This responsibility includes the development and implementation of a comprehensive and coordinated strategy to secure the state from terrorist threats and attacks. Further, the office of Homeland Security serves as a liaison between federal, state and local agencies, and private sector on matters relating to the security of our state and citizens.

Reporting Suspicious Activity

“If you see something, say something” is a program designed to raise public awareness of indicators of terrorism-related crimes and/or unusual, suspicious or criminal activities, and to emphasize the importance of reporting suspicious activity to the proper state and local law enforcement authorities. If you see something suspicious taking place then report that behavior or activity by calling 9-1-1. An alert public plays a critical role in keeping Tennessee safe.

Tennessee is divided into eleven Homeland Security Districts to provide organized, coordinated multi-county teams that maximize efforts to prevent, protect against and respond to manmade or natural incidents. This organization allows for wise use of limited resources of funds, personnel, equipment and time by building mutually supporting and interoperable programs across the state.
